Thorsten Sommer is a ‘Senior Digital Native’ with over 30 years of professional experience and a degree in computer science from the Technical University of Braunschweig. He has been controlling the IT activities of the production and logistics domain of the Volkswagen Group for almost 15 years. His focus is on the digitisation of central logistics processes. This includes operational responsibility for cross-functional fields of action such as target picture digitisation, business and IT architecture, data management as well as portfolio and innovation management. In the 15 years before that, Thorsten had operational responsibility in almost all IT areas – in development, administration, as well as in project and program management. His expertise includes the development and implementation of IT strategies, change management in digitisation, data management, as well as business intelligence and analytics.
