Simon Dudley is today responsible for implementing business excellence across JLR in achieving its wider Reimagine strategy. He joined JLR in 2013 in the powertrain operations team where he led the implementation of a digital system for the new engine plant and managed various transformation projects and quality performance. These roles gave him a broad insight into how the JLR business works and where the focus needs to be to implement business excellence. Simon Dudley began his career as a mechanical engineer at BAE Systems in the UK, where he held a number of positions over 25 years in the military aircraft business, including as a structural and dynamic test control systems engineer leading the fatigue test programme on Eurofighter Typhoon before taking up various project and programme management positions. Having completed an apprenticeship, he graduated with a 1st class BEng (Hons) in mechanical engineering and later went on to achieve a distinction in a global MBA from Manchester Business School in 2015. Simon enjoys working on business issues that require strong cross functional teams to solve complex problems and help his team in the development of Business Excellence for JLR. He lives in Warwick, is married with two children and outside of work pursues his passion of 38 years as a canoeist and is the Group Scout Leader for the local Scout Group.
