Michael Ströbel

Vice-President of Process Management, Digitalisation in Production
BMW Group

Since summer 2023, Michael Ströbel is vice-president for process management and digitalisation in the production division of the BMW Group. He oversees digital and IT support across production and logistics, including responsibility for the development and global rollout of a new SAP S/4 Hana logistics template and a new digital shopfloor initiative for all manufacturing sites. He returned to BMW’s headquarters in Munich after five years heading up BMW Group IT in the Americas Region, based in Plant Spartanburg, South Carolina. In his 20 years at the BMW Group, Michael Ströbel also headed the in-house production and purchasing function for reinforced carbon fibre plastics, was responsible globally for painted body logistics planning, and served as the IT Manager for the UK manufacturing operations. Prior to joining BMW, Michael was an IT consultant for Accenture in Germany and a staff member at the IBM Research Zurich Labs in Switzerland. He graduated from the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland with a Ph.D. in Information Management.
